Since this game relies on geospatial information, we need to pick a geospatial aware database.

Current contenders are:

MongoDB
Postgres with PostGIS extension.

MongoDB seems like a more natural fit than Postgres/PostGIS. The later seems more suited for actual, heavy-duty GIS applications.
