- A* is a set of models
- covers different areas: skeletons, app frameworks, gateways, workflows, etc.
- skeletons: generator of artificial workloads according to some reciepie
- frameworks: translates app semantics to workloads
- synthetic applications: 'artificial' workloads
- system workloads: derivation of workloads, adds resource consumption details
Notes:
- app modeling is applied to a specific class of applications (which share execution structure and properties, and where those are not influenced by application semantics).
- use bag of (connected) task as an examplar
- compared to skeletons, this will allow to not only reproduce, but also to reason about that execution structure, and possibly to react to Infrastructure changes.
- Analytical Application Models
- Application Simulation
- Application Emulation
- Experiments
- spans from A* to over 4' to real workload on a real infrastructure
- descriptions need an underlying model
