Hmm. I can't replicate your error. What PDF are you trying to display?

And as for a shortcode for displaying a PDF, there is none. That's actually the purpose of this plugin. You can work with scribd to get an embed code for a scribd doc, but that's a little different from displaying the PDF yourself.
