I can't seem to be able to download anything from releases. Is this package not supported anymore?

I cannot say if it is still supported, but it works with OpenJDK 8, at least (tested recently).

To obtain the .jar, install OpenJDK and Maven, package with mvn package, and the result will be in the directory target.
