Gramps Error message #12
Comments
Thank you for your report. I can just guess that your are trying to test with a custom uri (or you are an IA!). |
Also, does the plugin work on Mac OS ? |
The plugin should not be active under MacOS... |
Hello, |
Hello,
|
oh, you are looking at the tree page type... This will not work, give a try to individual page, something like: https://gw.geneanet.org/wcussans?lang=en&n=ratcliffe&oc=0&p=bertram+louis |
Note, for getting date on events, we need to set our locale (?lang=en or whatever your locale under the gramps session). I suppose that you did a modification for running this tool under MacOS? |
Hey thank you! i used the provided link https://gw.geneanet.org/wcussans?lang=en&n=ratcliffe&oc=0&p=bertram+louis and I checked the locale variable ( I am using a VM with Debian 11 currently for testing). Here the output:
Furthermore I tested again to execute the plugin and I am receiving the following error now:
Additionaly I chose the following configuration parameter: Best regards |
You can try to create a new Family Tree, and use "Force import" parameter:
It seems that we need to increase the import level for having the complete family. When we set level of import to 3, the parents are checked.
Unfortunatly, we need to be connected to geneanet for retrieving data (that's why we can see the cryptic hash as name). |
A little bit be strange, maybe need to use a second pass for parents (set parent as te main page). |
Hello, many thanks for all the input!
I also changed configuration to By the way I am using the GUI not the terminal to download information. I am starting gramps with the console and there I am getting more detailed information of the error. This time it updated the location of the person but no further information has been downloaded. I receive this error message:
|
I wonder how it worked before... Looking at code it seems that ROOTURL handling should be re-checked and improved. |
Thank you for pointing this out. I wonder where this come from and why tests missed such issue. |
Hey, I used the following settings: Provided Account information + password After some time of processing it did not downloaded new persons. At least the Place of Birth was updated so there is some connection to the server. Here is the complete logging from the terminal session:

Hi, Thank you! |
:-) |
At a glance, there is an extra loop:
which might be related to the family centric geneanet model and maybe fixed by an "overcheck" method before spouse creation into gramps database. So, importation might not be as strict as expected... Need to use the "latin" flexibility! |
Note, there is also differents models/patterns for families on geneanet web pages and parents may not be always married (or registered). |
Related to the 'verbal' message, whatever person (no gender nor sex), it returns name. Anyone will be mother or father and will be printed twice! Rather a minor design issue on family, also imported into a gramps database. |
This is excessive! |
I stoped my first try to import but some records were written: 12 relations (children <-> parents) have been fixed on one family (Kyan, John Howard Percy and Ratcliffe, Lillian Frances Mary Brotherton) by the check and repair tool.
79 children have been created under one family (Frederick Edwin Ratcliffe and Florence Anne Brotherton)! |
Sure might be possible... Maybe a new option for limiting such large family? |
Hi,
I installed gramps with macport on a mac and copied the plugin in the corresponding plugin folder.
I tried to use the tool but unfortunately I am receiving the following error message in the console:
(gramps:32487): Gtk-WARNING **: 19:36:35.561: Failed to set text 'Importing from https://gw.geneanet.org/xxxxxxxx?lang=en&n=xxxxx&oc=0&p=xxxxx+xxxxx&type=tree for user I0001' from markup due to error parsing markup: Error on line 1: Entity did not end with a semicolon; most likely you used an ampersand character without intending to start an entity — escape ampersand as &
Gramps person: xxxxxxxxxxxx
Geneanet person:
The URL I used has the following format: https://gw.geneanet.org/xxxxx?lang=en&n=xxxxxx&oc=0&p=xxx+xxx&xxxx=tree
Could someone please guide me?
Thank you!
Best regards
