Is it possible for the app manager to know whether an app it has started has crashed?
Or should it just automtically revert to idle status when this happens?
Does it already do this?

An example of this causing a problem is when a rapp crashes - the rapp manager doesn't know about it.

It's possible the roslaunch methods have functionality for this - we use a terminating postexec hook in the remocons.
