README.AIX.IBM

This file was thankfully provided by IBM in 2018. We could not yet use it
to try a build (see README.AIX).

- Run yum.sh(attached). This will setup yum on AIX.

- Install AIX xlc compiler.

- Install various packages required for setting up build environment:
   yum install automake autoconf bash gettext gettext-devel libtool m4 make pkg-config zlib zlib-devel git gnutls gnutls-devel info flex nettle nettle-devel p11-kit-devel libffi libffi-devel gmp gmp-devel

- Update all the packages using 'yum update'.

- Install following rpm's from http://www.bullfreeware.com:
  flex-2.5.35-2, libiconv-1.14-1, byacc-1.9.20121003-1

- All the required packages are installed. We can now use git clone to get all the source code:
  git clone https://github.com/rsyslog/liblogging.git
  git clone https://github.com/rsyslog/libfastjson.git
  git clone https://github.com/rsyslog/libestr.git
  git clone https://github.com/rsyslog/rsyslog.git

- To build rsyslog, we first build liblogging, libfastjson, libestr and then build rsyslog:
	-> Export following environment variables:

	   export M4=/opt/freeware/bin/m4
	   export PATH=$PATH:/usr/vac/bin:/opt/freeware/bin
	   export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/lib/pkgconfig:/opt/freeware/lib/pkgconfig

	-> First build dependent libraries json-c-0.12, libestr-0.1.9, liblogging-1.0.4 as follows:
	  # cd libfastjson
	  # ./configure
	  # make
	  # make install
	  # cd ../libestr
	  # ./configure
	  # make
	  # make install
	  # cd ../liblogging
	  # ./configure --disable-man-pages
	  # make
	  # make install

	  Note that you should use --disable-man-pages with configure for liblogging.

	-> Now build rsyslog using following commands:
	   # cd rsyslog
	   # ./configure --enable-imfile --disable-uuid --disable-generate-man-pages --enable-imdiag --enable-omruleset
	   # make
	   # make install
