I read in the description that it should implement a GML reader, since WFS-T is a GML oriented protocol.

Are there any plans to for this implementation any time soon ?

No concrete plans at the moment. I'll be using this project again in something I'm working on this fall, so I'll be working on it again as I find bugs and deficiencies. What I work on in leaflet.wfs-t will be determined primarily by the needs of this other project, and I don't know yet if that will include GML or not.

One possible route would be to add support for GML to a separate project like https://github.com/mapbox/leaflet-omnivore and then require that library to use leaflet.wfs-t. That way more people would possibly see, use and improve the GML support.
