Trouble with backup / restore

I'm on 20211112 on RPi 4b with 7" touchscreen (this one the CUIUIC 7" touchscreen monitor with built in speakers)

When I go to Settings / System / Restore and then Settings / System / Backup I see some problems:

Hit Backup, Backup saves another file with incrementing number (see the bottom bar):

Hit Restore... hmmm .... ok... I assume the first one will restore from my file backup (I dont want to reset to default).

And... here I get lost. I can't find anything that looks like the backup (2).gz file that saved out, nor any .gz file...

And even worse, my display got corrupted and has lost the top and bottom bars now (I'm in 180 zoom in the Settings / Features / Browser RPi)... 190 zoom causes the same problem normally, losing those bars as well).

hehe, figured I could change the zoom using my phone, but not seeing the settings icon there either... something unrelated to the zoom perhaps?
