Can't add additional nodes

I have created my seedimage, and trying to add a second node however it just picks up the existing machine instead of creating another machine in the machine inventory.

I have changed the registration uri to point to a different registration and tried assigning machineName in that registration however it just keeps overwriting the existing endpoint.

When the machine first boots from the ISO I can see it gets a random name, after install I can see it still has a random name, but after it connects to the registration endpoint it's name gets changed to the existing machine in the machine inventory.

What determines how a new vm connects and gets seen as a new unique entry in the machine inventory?

I have a requirement for static hostnames for one of my clusters with 4 nodes, so I am trying to use registration endpoints to set these per machine.
