Butter Chicken

A rich and creamy Butter Chicken recipe with tender chicken and flavorful spices. [Recipe Sources: Cafe Delites, YouTube]

Chicken Marinade

  • 800g chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 140ml plain yogurt
  • 1 1/2 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp finely grated ginger
  • 2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp salt

Butter Chicken

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 1/2 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp ginger, minced or grated
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 400 g crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp red chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1 1/4 tsp salt (or to taste)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp dried fenugreek leaves

Directions

  1. Marinate Chicken: Combine chicken with marinade ingredients. Marinate for 30 minutes to an hour.
  2. Cook Chicken: In a skillet, fry chicken until browned. Set aside.
  3. Sauté Aromatics: In the same pan, cook onions, garlic, and ginger. Add spices.
  4. Prepare Sauce: Add tomatoes, chili powder, and salt. Simmer until thickened. Blend until smooth.
  5. Combine: Return sauce to pan. Add cream, sugar, and fenugreek. Add chicken and simmer until cooked.
