Abstract: Quarkus is a stack for writing Java applications for the Cloud. By reducing memory footprint and startup time, Quarkus applications allow, among other things, to increase deployment density, develop serverless applications in Java, and achieve better behavior in Kubernetes.
The first public release of Quarkus was made in March 2019. Here we are six years later, with Quarkus 3.x. In the meantime, Quarkus has grown, and its ecosystem has enriched. But Quarkus has remained true to its principles.
This presentation recalls the fundamental points of Quarkus (build-time principle, reactive core, container-first...). It explains their evolution over the past six years as well as the new features of Quarkus 3.x such as the new dev UI, integration of Hibernate 6, transition to Jakarta and Flow, support for virtual threads (project loom), various improvements in developer experience, support for ARM architectures...
