AWS Lambda & Dynamodb sam file generation

I created a native project and successfully deployed to my AWS account using the sam file generated during the maven build process. The one thing I had to do manually after running the sam deploy was to add a Dynamodb policy to the role that was created during the deploy. I was wondering if I can get that policy added to the sam file automatically without having to edit it. Thank you in advance for any info you can pass my way.
