Hi

I am getting socket error with the Firefox extension, it seems like this extension has been updated recently because I never had this issue before with the Firefox extension that I have been using for years.

The Web Companion Chrome extension works no problem with the same Qownnotes on the same PC.

image

Expected behaviour

it should list the bookmarks

Actual behaviour

Throws an error

Steps to reproduce

Install the extension on Firefox on Windows, pair with the Qownnotes.

Output from the debug section in the settings dialog in QOwnNotes

You choose not to post your settings. Which port do you have configured in QOwnNotes and the browser extension?

I use the same port that I have been using with this Firefox extension, so the same settings has been working for me for over two years in Firefox until recently (which I suspect there was an update, my FF updates extensions automatically), also the same settings still works with the Chrome extension.

I can't reproduce that issue on any machine using Firefox...

Can you please post the output from the Debug settings in the settings dialog? You just need to paste it here.
And is there any useful log output if you enable the log panel (see Window / Panels)?
Please make sure you also enable debug logging in the log panel by right-clicking on the panel and selecting Debug in Options.

And how are those settings looking at your side?

The log panel is empty, I do not see any activity there.

Is there a section in the debug info that you are looking for specifically? The debug has a lot of personal information, it would take a while to clear all up before I would paste here. I would be happy to share the relevant section here. That is why I pasted only the top portion above in my post above.

Hard to tell if you turned on the socket server inside QOwnNotes...
But it works with chrome you said...
What version of Firefox do you have?
Maybe just remove the extension and install it again?

I actually pasted the Qownnotes own extension socket section above

I tried this with Windows 10 Firefox 123 and Firefox 124. Like I mentioned this has been working for a long time and my settings on the app and the extension side have not been changed for years. I suspected the update broke it. In any case thanks for looking into it, I will try reinstalling the extension as you recommended.
