I am trying to do "download a pre-built database as of 2023-01-02, and compile it.", but I compile database "hgtdb_20170630.tar.xz" , it doesn't have "taxon.map.gz". And what should I do?

Hello @YingyingZ9 The 2017 database was too old and it was designed for HGTector v0.x. It won't work with the current HGTector. With that being said, it may be possible for you to hack the database to make it compatible.
