How to setup properly for mypy

warn_unused_configs = true
warn_unused_ignores = true
warn_unreachable = true

With this mypy config, using hatch run lint:typing gives an error regarding missing imports from my_module. I have to use the following to get around the errors:

[[tool.mypy.overrides]]
module = "my_module.*"
ignore_missing_imports = true

I'm sure this is not the right way to do things (since I also get the missing import errors during hatch build thanks to mypyc). What is missing from my setup?

On the plugin you can exclude certain paths

I did exclude my_module.*, but since I don't see that as the default configuration for mypy, that makes me think that my setup is an issue somewhere.
