hatch not installing dependencies in [project] is this intended?

I think I'm misunderstanding about the .toml structure's purpose. I've created a hatch project with a list of dependencies under [project]. Is this dependencies list just for metadata and not used by hatch to install into environments? Does it need to be duplicated in another section?

I'm wondering if I need to duplicate the dependencies list under [project] in an environment section within the .toml. But I worry this will then require updating two separate lists.

Nevermind, I tested the default env and it seems that Project is the same as Env: default since when I run hatch shell I have access to everything under "Project" and the "Env" table. So I think I understand now that hatch dep show table explicitly shows the dependencies list and that the contents are installed in all environments, including default.
