Design - Responsiveness of homepage

Responsive grid set up not currently reacting in a pretty way. Height of the auction Image is too tall it seems, causing an immediate scroll on my screen at 1400px screen width. Ideally this page is no more than 100 view height, and the image is responsive to that contstraint.

For the breakpoint under 1280 - would be nice to align the #current-auction section to the bottom of the viewport to reflect closer to the designs
