I have also observed this issue on macos 14.7.1. This appeared after the Karabiner 15.3.0 update.
After a downgrade to 15.2.0, the swap is still there.

For me, setting the virtual keyboard type as ANSI instead of ISO resolved the swap.

I have a European Mac, and since updating to 15.3.0, my ‘<’ and ‘>’ keys now output ‘^’ and ‘°’, respectively.
