Name : cosmic-launcher

Release : 1.fc40
Architecture : x86_64
Size : 17 M
Source : cosmic-launcher-1.0.0~alpha.2^git20241016.445e525-1.fc40.src.rpm
Repository : @System
From repo : copr:copr.fedorainfracloud.org:ryanabx:cosmic-epoch
Summary : Pop launcher frontend for the COSMIC Desktop Environment
URL : https://github.com/pop-os/cosmic-launcher

Issue/Bug description:
If a folder is open in cosmic files, and this folder has the name of an installed package, cosmic launcher will sometimes display the icon of the installed package instead of the cosmic files icon. This only seems to happen with some applications. In my case it happens with spotify, obsidian, and OBS. They are all installed through flatpak so there might be a correlation there.

Below are some screenshots of the issue with the packages mentioned:

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Create several folders that have the same name as the display name of packages installed in the system.
  2. Open them all in new cosmic files windows.
  3. Search for the packages in the cosmic launcher
  4. Notice how some of the cosmic files windows appear alongside the packages with the same icon

Expected behavior:
The cosmic files windows retain the cosmic files icon rather than the icon of the applications with the same name.

Other notes:
I am on Fedora 40.
Sometimes writing the names in all caps appeared to trigger the issue, but it may be a coincidence so I did not include it in the main body of the bug description. Other than that anecdotal connection, I could not find a pattern to which packages triggered the issue.

I would like to add an update to this, it turns out its not only folders. A song came on my spotify and the spotify icon changed to the bottles one... I really wonder what is happening

Screenshot of spotify on my launcher right now:

Addendum:
Different songs change the icon to different things. These are all screenshots of spotify.
