This page is about how to install try_out_noise on a fresh Digital Ocean instance.
Install Node:
curl -sL https://deb.nodesource.com/setup_6.x | sudo -E bash -
sudo apt-get install -y nodejs
Create a new user called noise
:
adduser --disabled-password noise
Give the noise
user permission to read the logs of the processes spawned by Systemd via journalctl
:
usermod -aG systemd-journal noise
Give all the existing admins (that have root access) access to the noise
user:
mkdir /home/noise/.ssh
chmod 700 /home/noise/.ssh
sudo cp /root/.ssh/authorized_keys /home/noise/.ssh/
chown -R noise:noise /home/noise/.ssh
Now the noise
user should be set up properly. The next steps can be performed as that user.
Install Rust so that node-noise
can be built:
curl https://sh.rustup.rs -sSf | sh
If you are unsure, just always say "yes".
Now clone the actual try_out_noise
repository and go into that directory:
git clone https://github.com/pipedown/try_out_noise
cd try_out_noise
Now follow the try_out_noise
README.
