We are excited to announce that we will be hosting the 6th PHOEBE Workshop for <b>advanced</b> participants this June in Slovenia!

The workshop will take place on June 10th - 14th 2024 at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. Unlike previous years, this workshop will take on a hack-week format and be aimed at advancing the skills of those already familiar with PHOEBE. During the workshop, participants will work on individual and small-group projects with a focus on real data and the skills required to create publication-quality models. Participants will also gain insight into bug fixing and be given the opportunity to contribute to the PHOEBE code.

title: "Postdoctoral position in computational stellar astrophysics",

Our research group is hiring a postdoctoral research fellow with the start date between January and May 2022. The applicant will join the research group for an initial 12-month appointment, with a possibility of a 1-year extension, contingent on continued interest and successful performance. Competitive applicants will have an established track record in computational astrophysics, data science and programming. The principal focus for the postdoctoral scholar will be on eclipsing binary (EB) data from NASA’s Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) mission. TESS observed almost 5000 EBs on 2-min cadence and hundreds of thousands of EBs in full-frame images. The postdoc will spearhead the effort of extracting lightcurves and principal parameters for the full-frame image dataset, using short cadence data as calibration reference. Methods based on dimensionality reduction/down-projection, artificial intelligence, and clustering are expected to play a central role in the project. In addition, the generalized code-base developed for TESS EBs is envisioned to be added to the PHOEBE suite (<a href="http://phoebe-project.org">http://phoebe-project.org</a>). The postdoctoral research fellow will be expected to:
<ul>
<li>extract lightcurve data from full-frame images;</li>
<li>develop classification algorithms for eclipsing binaries from extracted lightcurve data;</li>
<li>use short cadence (2-min) data to train an artificial neural network in estimating principal parameters from EB lightcurves;</li>
<li>run an extensive and comprehensive analysis of EBs found in full-frame images;</li>
<li>implement successful algorithms into the PHOEBE suite;</li>
<li>work with and advise graduate and undergraduate students participating in the project.</li>

GitHub has recently launched support for "Discussions" - which provides a discussion board for repositories including the ability to "accept" answers.
This framework works perfectly for our community and will hopefully make it easier to search through previous questions and answers as well as an easier way to reach us or others in the community for help.

Please note that the corresponding 2.3 version of PHOEBE and the UI clients will not be released until the paper has been accepted, but are available for manual installation from source (from the <Link to="https://github.com/phoebe-project/phoebe2/tree/fitting">fitting branch on GitHub</Link> with the <Link to="/docs/development">current documentation here</Link>) for the adventurous soul.

The phoebe-project.org website has been re-written (and is now also <Link to="http://github.com/phoebe-project/phoebe-project.org">open-source</Link>) to improve the ability to navigate the tutorials and documentation for various releases.
</p>

<li>Documentation will be preserved for each minor release. All internal links will point to the latest release, but you can use the version switcher in the lower-right to access old releases. For example, you can still access <Link to="/docs/2.0">docs for PHOEBE 2.0.x here</Link>.</li>
<li>Information about each release, including changelog for each bugfix release, has been moved from the Documentation page to the <Link to="/releases">Releases</Link> page.</li>
<li>Installation instructions, per-release, can now be found on the dedicated <Link to="/install">Install</Link> page.</li>
<li>The FAQ has been moved from buried deep at the bottom of the documentation page to its own <Link to="/help/faq">FAQ page</Link> under the "Help" dropdown in the menu.</li>
<li>The <Link to="/docs">Documentation</Link> page is now subdivided into several categories: <Link to="/docs/latest/tutorials">tutorials</Link>, <Link to="/docs/latest/datasets">datasets</Link>, <Link to="/docs/latest/physics">physics</Link>, <Link to="/docs/latest/examples">examples</Link>, and <Link to="/docs/latest/api">API documentation</Link>.</li>
<li>The <Link to="/docs/latest/api">API Documentation</Link> is now formatted much cleaner and is simpler to navigate. All backend and developer methods are hidden to avoid adding noise.</li>
<li>A warning is shown on the install and documentation pages if viewing documentation for an older release. Consider upgrading, or at least double-checking that your version of PHOEBE matches the docs you're reading.</li>

Along with these changes, each page includes a link to submit a bug report on <em>that particular page's content</em>. This week (13-17 April 2015) a binary workshop is being organised in Leuven (BE) in the framework of the SpaceInn project (<Link to="http://www.spaceinn.eu">http://www.spaceinn.eu</Link>).
