Chronontology has a set of time periods from the Getty ATT to which they have added spatial coverage, making them suitable for inclusion in PeriodO.

This includes:

The authority metadata should make it clear that this is "The Getty AAT as interpreted by DAINST". In other words, these are the Getty ATT periods, but they have had some additional data added by DAINST.

@atomrab Do we want to include the AAT period lists? I'm thinking “no,” but just wanted to check.

Nevermind, I realized we can't include the period lists anyway, because they don't have timespans associated with them.

@atomrab How about things like Ahrensburgian, which are missing temporal end points?

There are also periods without starting points, but we don't allow those in PeriodO.

We do allow periods without end points in PeriodO, but we have only allowed it for periods that are meant to be interpreted as “still ongoing”. So should we leave these out, since most of them don't seem to be “still ongoing”?

Here's a complete list of periods missing temporal end points. If we exclude these we'll still have about 1200 periods.

It's a shame, because we miss a lot of stylistic period designations, but I think we have to leave these out. None of the ones I spot-checked are ongoing in the present, and if we find end-dates for them elsewhere, we're making assumptions that aren't original to the authority.
