+## Troubleshoot
+
+`mysqld_safe` has its own section in the MySQL configuration file, and can use the log_error option from that section. If the log_error option is not specified in the [mysqld_safe] section, `mysqld_safe` does not default to the log_error option from the [mysqld] section. 
+Instead, it redirects the error output to `syslog` if no error log file is specified.
