The behavior of this should be:

  • First comment on a closed issue: show Issue guidelines
  • Second comment on a closed issue: warn the user the issue will be locked if people keep commenting
  • Third comment on a closed issue: Lock the conversation

Thoughts @indirect @segiddins @chalkos ?

So 3 different users make 1 comment each and the bot locks the conversation? Or does it need to be one person making 3 comments?

It could include a slack link on the second/third comment, so people have somewhere to continue discussing the topic.

Does this happen often? People commenting on old, closed issues?

Yeah it could, i've seen lately people commenting on old closed issues(bundler, rubygems) yeah.
This idea was proposed by @indirect in the patronus channel btw.
