Why I can't start a new android studio project

Dear sir:
I had install the android studion in ubuntu 14.04. but I can't start a new android studio project, and the windows can't close. I try to use the command to run it, but it also failed.

By the way, Shoud I just jdk1.7 not jdk1.8? Thanks!

JDK 1.8 should work pretty much fine. No bytecode has changed in between 1.7 and 1.8, so both should work. I have this same Android Studio installed on an Ubuntu Trusty (14.04) environment and it works perfectly fine, so I guess it must be something to do with your environment. Try running Android Studio through the terminal and paste here the output, without any log it's almost impossible for anyone to help you.
