To start off you'll want to craft some basic machines - Calcinator, Aludel Base, Glass Bell, Research Station.
They are avalible very early-game at the cost of some stone, wood, iron and glass.

Plop down your Calcinator and Research Station.
Construct your Aludel by placing Glass Bell on top of the Aludel Base.
Put some coal or other fuel into Calcinator and Aludel.

From this point you can get Alchemical Chests, Alchemical Bags and Transmutation Tablet.
