Draft :

OSGeo-NEPAL Becomes an Official Local OSGeo Chapter

Kathmandu, Nepal

Volunteers and open source contributors from Nepal are thrilled to announce the formation of OSGeo-NEPAL, an official local chapter of the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo).
Nepal, a landlocked country situated in South Asia between India and China, is renowned for its Himalayan mountain range, which includes the highest point on Earth, Mount Everest. With a diverse geography and Nepali as the official language, the country has witnessed an exponential growth in interest in open source software and the geospatial domain.
OSGeo-NEPAL is a community-driven initiative dedicated to promoting and supporting the use of open source geospatial technologies in Nepal. The chapter aims to bring together enthusiasts, professionals, and individuals interested in geospatial technology to collaborate, learn, and contribute to the field.
The chapter is actively engaged on Discord and Google Groups, where members can join and subscribe to receive announcements, event updates, and participate in discussions. Interested individuals are invited to introduce themselves and connect with the community
Additionally, OSGeo-NEPAL hosts monthly meetups on the first Wednesday of every month. Details about these gatherings can be found on the chapter's website (https://osgeonepal.github.io/).
OSGeo-NEPAL is excited to engage with the global community and extend a warm welcome to all geospatial enthusiasts from Nepal to join their efforts in promoting and advancing open source geospatial technologies.
