Angular 16 - Overlaypanel closes when checkbox render in panel is unchecked

We have used Overlaypanel to show a list of users with a checkbox to select the user to assign for an operation. When we click on the checkbox it gets checked correctly. However, when we click the same checkbox to uncheck, it closes the overlaypanel. I tried it on the stackblitz example https://stackblitz.com/edit/xgyffz?file=src%2Fapp%2Fdemo%2Foverlay-panel-template-demo.html it's behaving the same.
