I referred (https://model.mtconnect.org/), to understand about representations and found that DATA_SET and TABLE representation applies to both EVENT and SAMPLE category data items. We define in the device XML file which event or sample type should be applied to a data item.
Now, is there any boundary on which event or sample type should be applied for data set? Or can we apply any event or sample type and keep the representation as DATA_SET? What about TABLE?
Additionally, I want to understand the key purpose of using this representation. Is it to avoid predefining possible data items that may not be used, or is it to group together multiple data items sharing the same properties?
Any clarifications would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
