Hi, new to linux (yesterday) after 40+ years W use, thanks to the familiarity of Mint. Thank you.
I like to keep updated for security, but not one for auto updates. If W never had a popup notifying, I prob rarely would have thought to check.
This morning I noticed a *small icon that looks like defender shield in the taskbar, with a red dot on it, found it was update notification (busybox).
Other than popups, I rarely have a need to look down in the right corner, but would if something got my attention, i.e. blinking.
Not for everyone, perhaps more for oldies like me, could be on by default, those experienced who don't like/want, will easily know how to disable it.
(*small icon) Another consideration, I found the default 100% display to small, especially for icons, close, min/max buttons, etc. Many posts on google about it, random opinions re making things larger, incl terminal coding, which is over most newbie heads, to frustrating, I haven't done it since commodore 64 days, reason many stick with W.
Having 125% size for default would be much better. Again those experienced who don't like/want, will easily know how to change it to their preference.
