Concurrency Types

I saw that Koka has experimental support for concurrent tasks. I was wondering if it is fine to start work on types for concurrent computation.
I have a few ideas:

1. Rust-like Mutex and RwLock (although I am not sure if we need these)
2. Channels so that we can send data between threads safely
3. Semaphores. I have a unique idea for this. Since generic semaphores are weird as smart pointers in Rust, I thought that using them as a way of controlling computation. In other words, a semaphore would run a function on certain values and block on others.

Feel free to suggest other ideas. I don't plan on working on this for a while, I just want to collect ideas and feedback.

I think Koka is planning on some variant of LVars. They are a form of parallel communication and synchronization that also provides a pure interface:
