I would like to create a TOP social media web app focused on networking and career opportunities. It would involve sharing your resume, career opportunities, and mentorship.

It is mostly an extension of the final TOP project.

Dating/Date idea generation app

A dating app/date idea generation app

The problem this app solves is the idea of deciding what to do on a date, whether that be a solo "self care" date, a 1:1 date, or a big group of friend date.

Users create accounts, and then select a "team" to be a part of that coincides with their artistic/social/philanthropic/educational/moral values. They can then create events for their "team" which are visible to every user of the app. Anyone can complete anyone else's tasks.

Users are encouraged to complete said tasks by providing some sort of "evidence" of their completion, as well as an optional synopsis of their experience.

Other Users are encouraged to award fake points based on inventiveness/completion of task completion.

Improved IRC with React Native app

This is a three pronged project idea intended to bring a more "simplistic" IRC type feeling to most possible platforms, and it is big enough for multiple teams to work on, if there are too many people.

• "Frontend", terminal based app: Out of JS/TS. Preferably, TS, as it isn't too hard to pick up, and offers a vast amount of ease of development compared to the cost of "learning" if it can even be called so, and there's another project with JS, but JS works too. This will be aimed at creating something similar to https://weechat.org, primarily focused on the following features:
  A. The core is a basic terminal menu, that allows similar functions like, creation of chatrooms, and joining and chatting. The biggest point of this core is to allow the creation of "plugins" that will allow adding features. Further details are up for discussion.
  B. These plugins will allow stuff like uploading media, creating admin/mod levels, etc. Once the core is up, these are features that can be added upon.
  C. For the basic interfacing, a project like https://term.ink would be good to create in.

• "Backend" or a rest api to manage data: This will be responsible for being a single source of data, authentication and further provision of resources. I'm not yet sure how this can align with multiple servers, if each server can have their own "backend" based on the plugins, or how an IRC is supposed to work, or so on, so this is up for grabs. Preferably, this can be built off of Express or Rails, based on the demographic available for the project.

• "React Native" app: Very similar to the Frontend, this will be another team working on providing support to mobile devices for the same set of features available to the terminal based users. Sounds small in scope but it'll be a challenge to polyfill all the different tech that comes with a traditional computer.

Advanced Bug Tracker

Pretty common, but a bug tracker or maybe jira/trello like that has extra collaborative features like live codesharing, whiteboarding, etc. It solves whatever those apps solves but with extra stuff. It's probably hard to make a lot of those features, that's the reason why I chose 6+ weeks, but also thought that it's doable based on how many people are going to join (hopefully).

For the technologies, I'll probably want to stick with what the curriculum taught but maybe use TypeScript instead of JavaScript :D and some extra stuff. With React as the FE, Node.js/RoR for the BE. For DB it's fine whichever to use. I'm also fine with REST but preferably GraphQL. Socket.IO is probably required if we're going to implement "live" stuff, then Socket.IO probably is needed. For state management, I think zustand is enough.

LMS ( Learning Management System )

1. Have logins for student, staff, admins ( different roles have different access and views on login )
2. add courses -> contains sections -> each section contains chapters -> each chapter contains lesson either in text or video
3. integrated terminal / code editor to run code from the website it self similar to codepen or jsfiddle but will allow more languages like react, webpack and so on
4. students can enroll in courses and do their projects and submit assignments for grades
5. share feedback / chat in forums
6. admin has full access and can control everything
7. teacher has access to all students enrolled in course and can create a new course
8. no payment gateways integrations ( its only a project for learning )
9. search area to display all courses available etc..
10. statistics charts for performance and grades like graphs
11. rating system and preview of course before enrollment

Resume parser + built in ATS

my backburner idea was to building a open source application free for everyone on the internet but its not in detail just some highlights
may not be everyone's idea and its hard to make something like this but most of the sites currently offer paid versions free is mostly just trials or very limited.

resume parser with a built in ATS ( computer science only for now ) where people can upload files and we can match it based on the job description, role and experience and provide suggestions on where it can be improved, while also giving the probability on how good they stand for the job they applied to.

so we would scan all types of resumes in different formats
check based on given information on how good it is based on criteria and other factors
check for spelling mistakes and checking if it includes all the necessary fields required for a resume
build a ATS system and give the resume a score based on conditions that can be researched on

Fact Checking web app

Project idea: Crowd Sourced Fact checking web app. 



The Problem: The rise of social media has greatly lowered the bar to spread information across the internet. This has allowed for the proliferation of fake news, disinformation, and propaganda, leading to the erosion of trust in traditional news sources and creating confusion and division among the public. With the amount of news media being published every day it isn’t feasible to fact check everything on your own.



A solution: Borrowing from Twitter’s Community Notes feature https://help.twitter.com/en/using-twitter/community-notes#:~:text=Community%20Notes%20aim%20to%20create,publicly%20shown%20on%20a%20Tweet, I propose a crowd sourced fact checking web app which takes advantage of wisdom of the crowd to verify the veracity of popular media circulating the internet. This web app would aggregate trending media and then crowdsource the verification process by allowing other users to fact check the information and grade passages on a scale of truthfulness.




Incentives for fact checkers
-Altruism. The truth is important and people interested in a certain subject may be inclined to take time to verify trending content (like wikipedia).

Fact checking Methodology


• Text content is isolated from its publisher/creator and broken down into chunks.
• Each chunk is reviewed by a jury of reviewers and an overwhelming majority (some high percentage) is deemed correct. Correct reviewers are awarded currency.

Pantry/Fridge manager

I'll volunteer the idea I had for my final project. A web app that let's you search and add items you have placed in your fridge and pantry with timers on when they are set to expire. Let's you track your grocery needs list and share it with users. Would have a backend and require oauth and could have multiple users share a single 'fridge'
There's a barcode and product lookup api I have saved for this, but that would have been for mobile to use the camera

think a web app like indeed / linkedin that displays job posting specifically for software related roles would be a cool project to work on. You would have:
