It's common to feel confused about whether to raise an issue or start contributing directly to a project, especially as a newcomer to open source. Here's a breakdown to help you understand when to do each: Raising an Issue:

Wait for Admin to Assign:
Tips:
Remember, the ultimate goal is to contribute meaningfully to the project, whether it's by raising issues, working on assigned tasks, or contributing directly. Choose the approach that feels most comfortable for you and aligns with the project's guidelines and your own learning objectives. |

Wait for assignment of the issue - fork the repo - make the changes and raise PR - get it reviewed by mentors/Project admin - merge it |

Hello @rajvaidyanath27
In Open Source, we use PR as an abbreviation for PULL REQUEST. I'd request you to kindly go through the sample video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgbCcBNZcdQ Hope it helps |

If I were you, I would raise an issue, get the issue assigned to me and then start the work on the issue and submit a PR because Your contributions will only count towards GSSoC if the issue you worked on is assigned to you because each issue has its level 1-3 which gets you the contribution points for GSSoC |
