intermittent error message "failed to execute git"

This issue happend today to Theresa (https://github.com/openstax/osbooks-precalculo) and me yesterday

Also, Sourav had this issue many times in the past - workaround was to relaunch a completely new workspace and recreate changes and push (it sometimes works)...

launch a content workspace in gitpod, make changes and when you push, you get error message "failed to execute git" but push seems to go through because if you run the push again, you get no change-no push message. And the changes you made appear in the pdf or preview (once you hit the tag button)

After discussion with Dante, I decided to create this issue and keep an eye on this error and collect more data
