User Story

As a journalist using Bron,
I want to access a curated "Search Query of the Week" that highlights significant national issues with local implications,
so that I can efficiently uncover relevant documents and data within Bron to craft compelling stories that resonate with both local and national audiences.

Acceptance Criteria

  1. Curated Search Queries:
    • Given that I am on the Bron platform, when I navigate to the "Search Query of the Week" page, then I should see a prominently featured search query that the Bron editorial team has curated based on its relevance to current national topics with local impacts.
  2. Customization for Locality:
    • Given that I am viewing the "Search Query of the Week," when I wish to tailor the search results to my local area or region, then I should be able to easily modify the search parameters (e.g., by adding locality-specific keywords or selecting my region from a dropdown menu) without altering the core essence of the curated search query.
  3. Access to Search Query Archive:
    • Given that I am interested in exploring past topics, when I am on the "Search Query of the Week" page, then I should have access to an archive of previous search queries organized by date or theme for historical context and additional story inspiration.
  4. Editorial Team Interface for Query Creation:
    • Given that the Bron editorial team needs to create and update the weekly search queries, when they access their administrative interface, then they should have a straightforward and intuitive way to draft, preview, and publish new search queries, including setting publication dates and adding explanatory context or suggested angles for journalists.
  5. Engagement and Feedback Mechanism:
    • Given that continuous improvement is essential, when users interact with the "Search Query of the Week," then there should be a mechanism for them to provide feedback on the utility of the query, suggest topics, or share the stories they've published using the provided leads, fostering a community of practice and collaborative enhancement of the feature.
  6. Notification and Awareness:
    • Given that users may not regularly visit the Bron website, when a new "Search Query of the Week" is published, then users who have opted in for notifications should receive an email alert or a notification within the platform, ensuring they are aware of the latest queries and encouraging regular engagement with the feature.

Additional information

  • The "Search Query of the Week" feature should be prominently displayed on the Bron platform to ensure high visibility and encourage user engagement.
  • The feature should be designed with user-friendliness in mind, allowing for seamless navigation between current and archived queries.
  • The editorial team should have access to user engagement metrics with each query to understand its impact and refine future queries based on user interest and feedback.
