It would be easy, and possibly convenient, to auto-start Micro-Manager, and maybe even the SPIM Acquisition plugin, via the OpenSPIMService.

If you consider to handle the OpenSPIM project with the top-down approach, I would prefer this project as the starting point to dig into it. Because I have a lack of knowledge of the BIG OpenSPIM project, it is required for me to understand how all the systems interact with each other. I would pick this up for the moment if @dscho allows me to do so. ;)

Probably it would be a good idea to make this optional (with default: on) in something similar to Edit>Options>ImageJ2....
