Thank you for the proposal.
Could you elaborate a bit more under what circumstances you would like to see this functionality and what you would expect this to do (so it's also understandable for people who don't use the gps functionality in QGIS)?
Sure. So when using qfield, ideally there would be an option for the extent of the map to update in unison with or close to the gps position. Seems a common if not default option in many gps guidance applications. On that note sometimes guidance systems have the gps location more at the bottom of the screen, so you can see more information on the screen ahead of you in the direction of travel. Currently in qfield the extent of the map doesn't update until the gps is very close to the edge of the screen, making it hard to see upcoming features when you are moving. I suppose choosing how far from the screen edge you want an extent update might be useful, as use cases for the software can vary quite a bit. In my case I'm using qfield to follow lines and avoid mapped hazards as accurately as possible. Another related feature would be a lightbar - a visual indicator which reports your distance left or right of a selected line. This would help greatly in following a mapped track. Thankyou for listening!
Would be very nice to have the "always recenter map" option as it is available in QGIS under gps configuration
