Bicycles #97

Just some thoughts: There are also charging spaces for electric motorbikes; these bikes tend to be heavier, and aren't expected to be pushed onto the pedestrian footway, and the charging spots for these resemble car charging spaces, though there's insufficient room to park a car in the charging bay. Thinking about other different types of vehicles, there's electric lorries, which require much bigger charging bays than most EV charging bays. I have yet to see any charging database with this sort of information, and none of our data import sources have it either. We don't have a field in the database that would suit the immediate requirement. |
Would we typically say that electric motorbikes can use EV charging that also suits cars? I can see how electric cycles have their own equipment and spaces. There is a wider discussion around charging equipment categories: e-bike, etc but also dedicated charging vs ad-hoc (oh look a plug socket for the cleaner to plugin the floor polisher, I'll add that). So ideally we'd label locations with one or more categories, then we'd be flexible to add more (potentially things like immediate amenities). |
On the topic of tags/labels, for years we've have a feature in teh database for MetadataField, this was intended for stuff like data source attribution, POI type (guess what!), Amenities, Cross reference of ID's from other databases etc., but has been largely unused because it's not exposed in the editor. Here is the tracking issue for a new editor: #113 |
Hi
I feel like it's hard to differentiate between car and bicycle charging points...
