1.7.1 Java agent throwing exception NoSuchMethodError

Hello,

Currently using 1.7.1, and when creating a metric am getting:

This definitely is a bug, PatchLogger is missing a method. Though I don't think it is a new bug. It is triggered from https://github.com/open-telemetry/opentelemetry-java/blob/33094f4cb14a017f0b1312988c9ee8ab51412876/sdk/metrics/src/main/java/io/opentelemetry/sdk/metrics/internal/state/MeterSharedState.java#L130 If you could figure out what causes DuplicateMetricStorageException that triggers logging the warning then you could also avoid the NoSuchMethodError.

Yes, this was happening because I was trying to create two metrics with the same name. That exception definitely seems to be a bug though.

yup, thx again for reporting! this is fixed now by #4540 and will be part of the 1.8.0 release
