Hi, while forest / wood has a long history in the OpenStreetMap landfill / usage category, even single trees and tree_rows become added to micromap the atmosphere of city neighbourhoods. usually they don't contain a height, but maybe this is already a good starting point, to assist users to specify (nearby) trees to the simulation?
Hi, this is a good idea, also it might be possible to combine it with the orthophotos (i.e. do some image segmentation on them to find trees). Not having a height at all is a bit of a problem, but probably better than nothing.
You nicht consider also opentrees.org by @stevage and community.
Would it be worth to thing about the data AS 'draft' / besteht guess of the local scenario? So you might want to edit the information before you Start a Simulation?

Just a idea how a tree visualisation using point-objects and interpolation on lines / polygones might look like: https://demo.f4map.com/#lat=53.7003277&lon=11.4221148&zoom=18
