Sporadic delays in loading

I experience sporadic delays (sometimes yes, sometimes no) in loading the application, loading my 80k trilogy, navigating from character to outline, to editor. At times I get the loading wheel of death (not responding), and once in a while a crash.

I am using the latest windows version on a Lenovo laptop with memory to spare. If hardware stats are needed I will post them.

Sometimes if I close some programs it gets better, but it should not be just a memory issue.

Allow me to add that I tried it with much smaller projects (of 2k words) and it worked just fine.

Is it simply my file is too large, or maybe to many weird characters (originally written in markdown but in novelwriter and ghostwriter).

There is ongoing work to improve performance for larger projects but at the moment that can be a problem. It's recommended to make backups to not loose anything because of crashes and it's possible to reduce the delays a bit by deactivating spell checkers.
