There are a few terms under information content entity that seem to me to be to be more appropriately child terms of "data item", specifically:
menopausal status
reason for lack of data item
exposure to environmental and workplace carcinogens history
hormonal birth control use history
indicator of whether all inclusion criteria were met
indicator of whether an inclusion criteria was met
and perhaps
clinical history
Each of those could be thought of as a specific data items rather than more general forms of information content entities, like "document" or "email address".

Hi, thanks for raising this issue. We discussed this on the OBI dev call today (09.25.2023), and we agree that there needs to be more clarification about what goes under "data item" versus "information content entity." We plan to continue discussing this issue in the future, as it does seem like some of these would benefit from being moved under "data item," but we don't want to make any changes before we have thorough justifications for our organization of the hierarchy here, and we don't have that clarity yet. We'll follow up with you when we reach a resolution.
