allow for connecting two WiRSa modules together wirelessly #9

Why not just? Terminal <-> WiRSa <-> AP <-> WiRSa <-> Computer Seems like better solution than adding more software to the device. |
I think I see what you're trying to do, this is an interesting idea. And in either case I think there's some screen options I'd want to add to simplify making this type of connection... Actually I wonder if it would be possible now.. On WiRSa 1, add a speed dial entry for WiRSa 2's telnet address/port. Then you should be able to initiate the connection from WiRSa 1 using the screen. Then anything coming across the serial line should get transferred over the telnet connection. Haven't tried this but should be possible in theory. Let me know if that works. |
I need to build the other kit. It would be nice if they could connect without operator intervention. Power them up and due to settings in NVRAM have them automatically connect. |
That is exactly what I meant. Point to point would be nice but only if there was no router near by or greater security than offered by standard WiFi encryption. The main goal is for it to be hands free once setup. |
There is a setting to change the default menu to MODEM mode. This gets us halfway there. Would need to add an option to auto-dial out to a speed dial # when MODEM mode is entered. This wouldn't be hard to add. |
Thank you for listening to my endless ideas. |
Allow for connecting a dumb device to the WiRSa at each end (via the DB-9) port.
This allows for a terminal to be connected to a non-network serial port on a computer wirelessly.
Terminal <-> WiRSa <-> WiRSa <-> Computer
