Ah, of course, this cannot work this way, as it needs the axiom of choice. Does the proof work by contradiction?

Attempt to add Hilbert’s choice operator
85fef2f 
and hence the Axiom of Choice to the logic. It seems that this is a way
to make progress towards #68, but the unification fails. Likely, this
needs better control about the instantiation of certain rules.
