Is there an easy way to re-order the bands in a multi-band plot according to some user-defined list of bands so that they could be ordered by (for example) wavelength of the band rather than alphabetical order?

Good question. There is not a semi-easy way to do it. But not difficult to add a keyword argument plot_order to the plotting module that the user can pass for a specific order. I can do this at some point, but you may be quicker than me if you want to take it on?

Actually, I've done it myself. Once #241 is merged, the transient objects will have an optional keyword argument called 'plotting_order', which should be a list of all the bands you want to plot and in the order you want to plot them.
