Check out edugain as a federated auth provider

I just had a chat with Tristan about our plans around Federation and how that would involve authentication. He mentioned https://edugain.org/ which is essentially a authentication service that works with the same global reach as eduroam at universities and associated institutes. One thing that could be very cool is that as part of the identity information the service also returns information on the role of the user within their organization.

We should look at that, maybe we can reuse it.
