List of diving gear to request from WHOI dive locker:

  • (10) HP100 (preferrably Worthington) (8 for 2 dives, 2 divers, 2 locations + 2 spare)

  • (1) AL40 (or AL30) with rigging and stage regulator set (DIN 1st and 2nd stage + SPG) for spare air (NOT DECO GAS!)

  • all tanks DIN but will need two (2) DIN-to-yoke inserts

  • if filled by WHOI, all tanks filled with EAN29 (including AL40).

  • Emergency O2 kit (checking)

  • Tank rack or wire basket for securing tanks on vessel (Brian Hogue, WHOI)

Other items necessary for diving, but not sure of source (CSI or WHOI)

  • Emergency O2 kit and determine what ship has if any
  • Diving first-aid kit
  • Dive flag

Original Questions:

  1. How many tanks do we need and what types? I'm thinking at least 12 (2 for 3 divers for possible 2 dives each). Sizes: (HP100 and bigger, also one AL40+reg+rigging for spare air)
Mike said 8 but I think 10 to have two spares.
  2. Can we get them from WHOI? Rent from dive shop in Woods Hole?
A: Yes. thanks to Glen G for asking WHOI marine and dive ops
  3. Alternate plan?
    A: CSI and dive trailer
  4. One way to cut down on number of tanks bringing -- Does boat have compressor and/or bank for dive gas? Anyone trained or certified to fill?
    A: Dont' go there.
