Issue with latency metric

The latency metric seems to be showing the server's ping to the cachet server, not the time it took the request to be processed by the endpoint, is this intended, like, would I need a separate copy of the script running on every one of my servers, for latency to be correct? Because that seems like a pretty horrible way to do it if so.
