I've a feeling we're going to need to do some exploratory coding with the DeePMD codebase as part of task #4. So, we should fork their repo so that we're free to make changes to observe effects.

Done! If you look at the repositories associated with this project, you'll see that DeepMD is now one. We should freely be able to make local changes without having an impact on the original DeePMD development.
